Also, medical treatment has become more and more expensive, even if supported by health insurance and mediclaim policies, which are by themselves expensive. One has to spend a fair amount from one's pocket over and above that reimbursed by insurance companies.

Government sponsored schemes do not meet the expectations of many. Government, private partnership programs for medical treatment have many drawbacks.

Therefore, when it comes to health matters, people must be more conscious about their health today than at any time before.

Rather than spending time and money fighting diseases, people must  focus more on how to stay healthy for as long as possible.

Knowledge of age related diseases, and how to prevent or delay its onset will help progression of many disabling diseases, one of which is osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is loss of bone density, which decreases with aging due to hormonal changes. Less estrogen in women after menopause and less testosterone in older men can lead to loss in bone density.

There are no symptoms in the early stages of bone loss. But once the bones have been weakened enough, persistent back pain & height over time may be indicative. If attention is not given in time the consequences can be menacing.

Women will lose up to 20 percent of bone mineral density in the five to seven years after menopause.

By the age 65 men and women lose bone density at the same rate.

But the good news is you don’t have to wait for a fall or break to fight the disease.

You can prevent osteoporosis by a combination of nutrition, diet and exercises.
